What makes a vital United Methodist Congregation? Your input needed.

3/31/2010

The Call to Action Steering Committee, a committee formed by actions of the Council of Bishops and the Connectional Table, needs your opinion about what makes a vital United Methodist congregation.  The team is charged with making formal suggestions for possible changes to the life of the United Methodist Church. The entire process is known as “A Call to Action: Reordering the Life of the Church.”

Amy Valdez Barker, associate minister at Athens First, is a member of the Call to Action Steering Committee.

“As ministers, leaders, and members of congregations, we are called to do something about our faith.  As a denomination, we have come to the place where we need to better understand what we are doing about our faith and how churches are responding to our mission to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.  That’s why your voice and opinions are important,” states Valdez.

To voice your opinion, please participate in an initial survey being performed by Towers Watson to gather data on congregational effectiveness.  You can find the survey by visiting  http://survey.confirmit.com/wix2/p1147480312.aspx

Key outcomes of the Call to Action project will include recommendations for ways to reorder or reshape some structures and processes of the United Methodist Church. The intent is to build processes and patterns that help our church better achieve its mission and fully integrate the Four Areas of Focus into the fabric of the United Methodist connection.
