The 2010 Comprehensive School for pastors is set for September 12-13. This year's guest speaker will be James R. Campbell, an experienced investor and entrepreneur. The Dublin District will be sponsoring a Lay Speaking Certification Training course September 17-18, 2010, at Gethsemane UMC in East Dublin. The training is available to both laity and clergy for certification or just for spiritual growth. Both a basic and an advanced course will be offered. Rev. Every local church in South Georgia is encouraged to received a special Work Day Offering on Sunday, September 19 to support the ministry of The Methodist Home for Children and Youth.
The Work Day Offering for the Methodist Home is a tradition from the 1900s, a time when people, mostly farmers, donated the equivalent of one day’s wages to the Methodist Home.
