Part-time Bookkeeper - Mulberry Street UMC, Macon

Mulberry Street United Methodist Church, a historic and vibrant church located in downtown Macon, seeks a detail-oriented, part-time financial secretary to perform bookkeeping duties, including, but not limited to, payroll, accounts payable, deposits, account reconciliation, and related financial reporting and activities. The Financial Secretary works under the supervision of the Church Administration who has oversight of all church fiscal matters.
Principal Job Responsibilities:
- Process weekly deposits
- Process Accounts Payable (both invoices and reimbursements) on a weekly basis
- Process Payroll three times per month
- Pay Federal and State taxes in a timely manner
- Perform monthly reconciliation of bank accounts using the Church’s accounting software
- Perform financial data entry
- Create and maintain essential financial files in a timely manner
- File quarterly reports with the IRS and State of Georgia
- Prepare informational reports for Senior Pastor and Church Administrator
- Attend quarterly Finance Committee meetings
- Perform additional related duties as determined by the Senior Pastor and Church Administrator
Preference will be shown to applicants with bookkeeping experience and/or experience with ACS/Realm church accounting software.
Suitable applicants without this experience must exhibit an ability to learn and navigate new computer programs and a successful history of job responsibilities requiring accuracy with detail-oriented tasks.
Job Type: Part-time salaried
Pay: commensurate with experience
Expected hours: approximately 10 – 15 per week
Schedule: Determined by Church Administrator
