Director of Family Ministries - Sandersville UMC

The Director of Family Ministries will create and implement an engaging, relevant, Bible-based ministry/education curriculum that will facilitate and encourage all
participants to grow in their faith in Jesus Christ. The Director of Family Ministries will recruit, equip, and guide a ministry team of volunteers and staff in providing
quality discipleship, outreach, spiritual formation, leadership development, worship, and mission opportunities for multiple audiences, including but not
limited to children, youth, families, and adults of all ages. The Director of Family Ministries will work with the church leadership and staff to develop a ministry
program that reflects the mission and values of the United Methodist Church (UMC).

Requirements/Qualifications
• Discretion and confidentiality in all matters related to church members and church business.
• Mature Christian faith; ability to communicate Christian values of acceptance, care, and love.
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player while coordinating ministry with volunteers and the church staff to achieve the mission of SUMC.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills; ability to converse with and relate to people of all ages and all walks of life.
• Possess the skills, knowledge, and abilities to create/develop Bible-based teaching curriculums.
• Strong administrative skills to manage multiple ministry groups; ability to multi-task and balance competing priorities as well as demonstrated ability
to execute well organized programs and events.
• Excellent planning including the ability to develop and manage a budget.
• Strong computer and social media skills.
• Education, and/or children, youth, adult ministry experience preferred.

Responsibilities
• Recruit, equip and lead adult volunteers to help lead the full spectrum of ministry programs of the church. Coordinate volunteer schedules as necessary.
• Utilize resources available through the UMC and other acceptable sources to create/develop Bible-based curriculums for all SUMC ministry groups.
• Oversee, manage, and monitor effectiveness/acceptance of ministry programs; adjust and make changes as necessary.
• Promote service and outreach through the development and implementation of age-appropriate service projects and/or mission projects.
• Equip families with resources and education to help them become actively and intentionally involved in the spiritual formation and discipleship of their families outside the church structure.
• Implement and provide Safe Sanctuary training and other legally required training as appropriate.
• Develop deep familiarity of SUMC members and culture.
• In collaboration with the pastor, provide pastoral support and care for church members as appropriate.
• Develop and manage the budget for SUMC ministries.
• Manage and coordinate rooms/spaces within the church to facilitate the various ministries; ensure rooms/spaces are clean, safe, and presentable for use as appropriate.
• Utilize various technology as appropriate to present, enhance, and communicate SUMC’s ministries.

Additional Information
The position of Director of Family Ministries is a full-time, salaried position requiring a projected 40 hours per week. The actual number of hours required during any given week are those needed to fulfill the responsibilities of the position while recognizing the schedule may vary at different times of the year.
