ABOUT THE TRAINING
Barbara Tripp with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) will lead the trainings. South GA Conference ERT identification cards will be issued to participants during the training. According to new FEMA regulations, volunteers for early response teams must be credentialed and have a photo-ID in order to enter into a disaster area. Otherwise, they may be denied access. There is a limit of 60 persons per training. Because of the size limitation, participants must pre-register for this event. No walk-ups will be accepted. The deadline to register for the September 13 training is September 8. The deadline to register for the October 4 training is September 29.
COST
The cost of the training is $10.00, which includes lunch and snacks. UMCOR volunteer t-shirts will be available for purchase for $8.00.

WHAT IS AN EARLY RESPONSE TEAM?
An Early Response Team is a group of 8-12 trained, insured and credentialed people who are deployed into a disaster-site to help with initial clean-up following a disaster. Teams are deployed after the immediate emergency stage when areas are cleared by government officials and faith-based groups are first welcomed into the area. The team members become representatives of their annual conference and partners with the United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR), which coordinates the church's overall response to disasters. All Early Response Team members must be 18 years of age or older due to the higher risks involved with this work.
