I have noticed that Bishop King has stated that it is impossible for him to visit each church in theSouth Ga. Conference. I would suggest he contact former Bishop Looney as to how this could be done. Also, I would like to know if all the preachers in the conference invited all the folks in their congreation to the church for visits rather than he/she visiting each home, would this fly?

Several mentors have influenced me over the years but none any more deeply than Hamp Watson. It was my great fortune to serve as Hamp's assistant during one extraordinary year of ministry at Bainbridge UMC, 1978-79. Hearing him preach regularly, learning from his compassionate pastoral care, and watching his careful steering of congregational administration set the bar at a level that I am still trying to attain.

Just think what kind of a world this would be if even 10% of the people on this earth emulated Rev. Hamp Watson and his love for the Lord!!

I commend Bishop King for his spiritual leadership. Ephesians 4 Unity of Spirit and Purpose is one of the greatest needs in the church today and is sorely needed among those who are called to leadership. I was especially glad to see that there was an emphasis and time devoted to spiritual formation. Spiritual Leadership Development is first and foremost a matter of deep change and spiritual formation. It is first a work of the heart and then the mind. If we can create environments where God can change our leaders hearts; they will change the church and the church will change the world. Praise God!

It is always encouraging to see and hear what Bishop King is doing around our South Georgia conference. the closeness with fellow clergy and laity as well with our District Supt's is a boost to bringing our churches in every district closer together thru prayer and common communication.
God Bless us all as we bring ourselves together!

There's still time to register to attend the 2009 School. UMVIM training promises to be a special treat with the team of Jamie Gibson and UMCOR consultant Barbara Tripp. Make plans now to attend this exciting event! Consider making it a family affair. Classes are available for every age group.

I would just like to say that I have sent groups from our church for the past three years and they love it. I just picked some up today and they sang and talked all the way home about it. They cry when they leave. The counselors are so patient and kind and there are so many activities that the children never get bored. It is well worth every dime and they always come home so close to God. It makes me want to go there as an adult. This is the best camp that I know of and the folks that head it up are wonderful and great to work with. I am from Mt. Olivet UMC out of Fleming, Ga. and I'm proud to recommend this camp to anyone. It's been hours since I picked them up and they still can't stop talking about it. Please send any children that are interested. It is a true blessing to have been to Epworth By the Sea for camp. Thank you so much Diane and Adam for all of the work that you do. Praisefully, Leeann Woods
