SUMMARY:Disciple Covenant Conference
DESCRIPTION:Visit www.disciplecovenantconference.org for complete detail
s about the Disciple Covenant Conference and to register.  H
ope to see you there! When: February 24-25, 2012Where: Macon
Centreplex (Coliseum) in Macon, GAAn Experience:  For You –
Your Team – Your CongregationWhy:  Are you longing for love,
joy, peace, or healing as well as a way to grow in your Chr
istian walk as a disciple Jesus Christ?  By combining Bible-
based values and starting where you are, you can continue to
improve on becoming the best person you can be. You also ca
n work with others on your team to help your congregation gr
ow more Christlike. What: The Disciple Covenant Conference (D
CC) is an experience where clergy, staff and laity come toge
ther to develop or improve personal as well as congregationa
l plans based on timeless values of our faith. The plan is c
alled covenant. A covenant is an agreement you make with God
and others to try to get better. It is so important to plan
and set goals in striving to achieve our endeavors. What mak
es the DCC new?· A different approach to clergy – lay teams
developing and examining a covenant plan· The focus on timel
ess values of the faith· It is a first-time experience for t
he South Georgia Annual Conference. Please note that this exp
erience is not another program. Can it be used as a program?
Yes. The values of the faith belong to all of us as Christ
ians, and just like an automobile, you need some basic thing
s like tires, a steering wheel, an engine, a transmission, e
tc.  Prayer, for example, should be a part of every disciple
’s plan as well as every Christian congregation’s plan.

SUMMARY:Kingdom Builder's Sunday
DESCRIPTION:In the 1960's Kingdom Builders was established to offer peop
le across the South Georgia Conference a way to support new
church development. New and Revitalized Congregational Devel
opment has grown out of that club. In 2002 the Office of New
and Revitalized Congregational Development of the South Geo
rgia Conference of the United Methodist Church was birthed.
NRCD seeks to bring gifted leaders, called by God to churche
s and communities in need, to provide financial support to b
irth new congregations and to revitalize declining congregat
ions. These congregations include new congregations, revital
ized congregations and Hispanic congregations. Dr. Hugo Maga
llanes, along with Rev. Felipe Ricardo and Rev. Daniel Medin
a, lead NRCD Hispanic Ministries. The Giving Clubs of NRCD (
Kingdom Builders, New Congregational Supporters, Vision Prom
oters and New Congregational Planters) are helping to bring
financial support to all of our congregations. For those who
have been a faithful supporter of Kingdom Builders, thank y
ou! For those of you who have not yet begun to support this
important ministry, February 26th is Kingdom Builders Sunday
, and I invite you to partner with us as we seek to offer ex
citing worship opportunities to people across South Georgia!

SUMMARY:Peace with Justice Sunday
DESCRIPTION:In a world where 250,000 children are forced to be fighters
or sex slaves, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) is
the largest persistent violator, according to the United Na
tions Security Council. Because of the war, young boys are f
orced to enlist in the rebel army. Sexual assault of women a
nd young girls has become the norm.Compounding the problem i
s “conflict mineral,” the selling of copper, tungsten, tin a
nd other minerals to support war efforts. Unfortunately, min
erals sold to global supply chains and corporations may be u
sed as components for electronics that are part of our every
day lives: mobile phones, MP3 players and computers.United M
ethodists are trying to do something about it.Armed with a g
rant from the Peace with Justice Sunday offering, the Jerusa
lem Justice and Peace Ministry (JJPM) is assisting communiti
es in the DRC. While physical and emotional healing is vital
, the ministry also challenges unjust systems.“We cannot kee
p quiet if there is something wrong,” said JJPM executive Dr
. Leonard Kabwita. JJPM workshops educate and empower Congol
ese people about justice issues in their communities and see
k local solutions to close the gap between rich and poor.Whe
n you give to Peace with Justice Sunday, you support ministr
ies in the DRC, the United States and worldwide to remove un
just systems and equip the victimized to live more fulfilled
lives.Click here for resources to help promote this special
