Reverend Albert Tegler Greer, 81, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2011, at Grady General Hospital in Cairo. Rev. Greer was born in Baxley on December 3, 1930, to the late Jackson Killian Greer and Julia Wilkins Willis Greer. On April 22, 1955, he married Billie Jo Greer, who survives. They have celebrated 56 years of marriage. He served his country in the National Guard. He belonged to various civic clubs as he moved to different ministerial appointment locations in the South Georgia United Methodist Conference. At the First United Methodist Church of Cairo, he was a member of the Fellowship Sunday school class, the choir, and was a beloved member of the church. His hobbies included golfing and fishing. Reverend Greer loved to fill-in as a pastor wherever he was needed. With a twinkle in his eye, he loved to tell jokes and tales as he passed your way. He is survived by his wife, Billie Jo Greer of Cairo; daughters and sons-in-law, Ivy and Mark Zimmerman of Jackson, S.C., Joanne and David Christopher of Trenton, S.C.; sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Debra Greer of Perry, Brad and Katrina Greer of Memphis, Tenn.; grandchildren and spouses, Nancy and Jay Goudelock of Memphis, Tenn., Daniel Greer of Perry, Crystal Greer of McRae, Kelly Greer of Perry, Brittney Zimmerman of Jackson, S.C., Bryce Zimmerman of Jackson, S.C., Mary Money of Bartlett, Tenn., Robin Greer of Bartlett, Tenn.; great-grandson, Landon Gentry of McRae; sister and brother-in-law, Margie and Lyman Brewer of Fitzgerald; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Winifred Greer of Cochran, Peggy Greer of Dublin, Sue and John Carden of Melbourne, Fla. Reverend Greer was preceded in death by his parents, Jackson and Julia Greer; brothers, Jack Greer, Cullen Greer, Harold Greer, Wallace Greer; sisters, Mary Wilcox, Myrtis Garrett, Inez Boswell, and Jean McLemore. Services for Reverend Greer were held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at the First United Methodist Church of Cairo with Rev. Rick Turner officiating.
