DAY OF SERVICE INFORMATION

Day of Service

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.

The people of The United Methodist Church.

Please Note: Online registration is now closed. You may register for the Day of Service on Sunday or Monday when you arrive in Savannah. Look for the Day of Service table in the lobby of the Civic Center.

On Wednesday, June 6th, the people of The United Methodist Church will open the doors of the annual conference to serve the Savannah community. Opportunities range from making school bags for UMCOR to preparing casseroles for the Ronald McDonald House, from participating in a virtual prayer walk to sewing blankets for the less fortunate, from sorting items in a thrift shop to boxing onions for the hungry, from building transportable housing to light yard work at a home for single mothers. South Georgia laity and clergy will scatter across the Savannah community to be witnesses of our faith in Jesus Christ by serving through word and deed. It is our prayer and intention that we make a positive impact on the community as we live out God's vision that every soul and circumstance be redeemed. The Savannah Local Arrangements Committee is coordinating this morning of service.

You will be able to select your 1st, 2nd and 3rd choices on the registration form. You will be assigned your first choice if possible. Some projects are limited in size by space. A local project host will contact you with information about the day (attire, location, etc.) once they have assigned all projects.

Lunch:

Lunch will be provided at Trinity UMC (two blocks north of the Civic Center ) from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. An Italian Buffet (pasta, salad, roll, dessert, coffee, tea) will be set up. Cost per lunch: $6.00. Join others at the conclusion of your project to share stories about your day of service. Please indicate on the registration form if you would like lunch provided for you.

T-Shirts:

T-shirts for the Day of Service will make United Methodists more visible in the community. Proceeds from the shirts will be used to support the ministries of Wesley Community Centers, a Methodist mission operating a women's center, a day shelter, and an award-winning childcare center in downtown Savannah. If you would like to purchase a t-shirt please indicate on the registration form.
